Untimed
Untimed was written by Andy Gavin and published in December 17, 2012 by Mascherato.
One day a mysterious clockwork man tries to kill Charlie in Philadelphia on 2011, and somehow they tumble through a hole into 1725 London. This is the start of our story. This novel is using the old time travel question to build its story which is “What happens if a time traveler changes the past?”
In London Charlie met Yvaine who is also a time traveler. Yvaine told him, girls can travel to the future and boys can travel to the past. In their travels they’ve altered the future drastically by choosing wrong decisions. And eventually they start trying to eliminate the clockwork men and change back the history to its old state.
I got this book from Netgalley. Thank you, Netgalley.
This book uses both time travel and steam-punk. I enjoyed reading the book, the concept is basic but interesting. Probably I enjoyed mostly to see the changes in the history after Charlie and Yvaine’s actions. By altering time, they have destroyed electric based future to steampunk future which was the dream of the clockwork men. Also they have learned that all time travelers are somehow relatives.
I try to rate plot, characterization, style, setting and entertainment separately and take the average of these for overall rating. The overall rating is 3.5 which translates, it is between “liked it” and “really liked it”.
