Romulus Buckle & the City of the Founders

Romulus Buckle & the City of the Founders, first book of the Chronicles of the Pneumatic Zeppelin series, was written by Richard Ellis Preston Jr. and published in July 2, 2013 by 47North.

This is a steampunk story with zeppelins and Martians. Yes you heard true, something happened to Earth and in this post-apocalyptic world we have zeppelins and Martians in the same story.

Romulus Buckle & the City of the Founders

The plot is interesting and there are interesting characters. The story takes place in Snow World, the old California. There are clans and they are fighting each other.

Founders have kidnapped Balthazar Crankshaft who is the leader of Crankshaft Clan. Romulus Buckle, the main character, is ready to sacrifice anything to rescue Balthazar. Using Pneumatic Zeppelin and his crew Romulus will fly to Founders’ city which is also the old Los Angeles.

Also as a side story, there is a Martian-Human girl named shortly as Max, who loves Romulus Buckle and also working under Romulus. It would be interesting to read more about Max, her past and may be future with Romulus.
Also I got the second book “Romulus Buckle & the Engines of War” from NetGalley, but unfortunately I could not read it in time and it has expired. Anyway, this book is an interesting book to read. There are lots of funny and historic character names.

I try to rate plot, characterization, style, setting and entertainment separately and take the average of these for overall rating. The overall rating is 2.9 which translates to “liked it”.
